Open Faculty Positions

The department is pleased to announce that they have openings for two faculty positions.

Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Enology and Fermentation
This is a newly created position and is a split appointment between the Department of Food Science and Technology and the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science.
It is preferred that the successful candidate be nationally and internationally recognized, with strong academic, or industrial experience, or both, in enology and fermentation science and technology. The candidate will become an integral part of the departments of Food Science and Technology and Horticultural and Crop Sciences and is expected to build an internationally recognized program of enology for wine production, wine science, fermentation science, microbiology, and chemical and biological analysis. The individual must show dedication to excellence in research and teaching and a strong commitment to collaborate with ongoing extension activities to promote community engagements and wine production activities with Ohio wineries.  This position will focus on enology research but could also integrate wine, cider, mead, distilled spirits, beer, and the science of other fermented foods that are commensurate with the four external environment goals of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, which are Sustainability, One Health, Rural-urban interface, and Leadership in the field. Distribution of effort is 60% Research/ 25% Teaching/ 15% Extension and is a Full-Time, Tenure Track, 9-month appointment.

Dale A. Seiberling Professorship in Food Engineering
We are recruiting for the Dale A. Seiberling Professorship in Food Engineering at The Ohio State University (OSU), College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. The holder must be an internationally recognized scientist with an established record of published research and scholarship. The successful candidate will be a 9-month, full-time, tenured associate, or full tenured professor in a vibrant scholarly research program with an exemplary teaching, research, and outreach portfolio, and will inspire new and existing collaborations.
The faculty member in this position will have appointments in the Department of Food Science and Technology (FST), 60%, and the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering (FABE) 40%, and will have teaching responsibilities, as well as opportunities to advise graduate students in both administrative units. The Department of Food Science and Technology is the tenure home. Our aim is to recruit, support, and retain a scholar that will become an integral part of our joint academic programs. To that end, we encourage applications from scholars whose Research, Teaching and Outreach, cultivate learning environments that are equitable and inclusive of students with diverse social identities and backgrounds.
