Strategic Planning team presented an update to the BoD on 10-29-04.
Board advocated for better integration of resources between FIC, FST
and OSU in general.
Snack Food Association(SFA) Visit – SFA met with
faculty and staff of Department FS&T with the objective of exploring
available expertise & resources. The goal of being to restore
previous relationship - focusing on quality, training, short
courses, food security, etc – to the Dr. Gould era.
Relationship Building / Outreach:
Visited
Bunker Hill Cheese to study their milk receiving (cans) and can
rinsing operation.
Spent
a couple of hours observing kraut operation (in
Fremont) in order to
recommend possible quality improvements.
Clients & Prospective Clients:
Discussed
various treatments to eliminate Acrylamide from potato flakes with
an international food company.
Met
with Shari Plimpton (CIFT) to discuss areas of cooperation.

General:
Two
Niro Inc representatives visited to present various Niro operations
for the FIC. Still awaiting their offer.
There
were 28 Food Safety Hotline calls in October.
