COLUMBUS, OH (2004-08-31) When American soldiers are out in the field, in Iraq, they eat what are known as meals ready to eat or MRE's. These meals are designed to provide potent nutrition, and like canned soup, they can sit in their packaging without refrigeration for years. But the process of preserving the food leaves some items less than desirable. One Ohio State professor is working on a new preservation method that will make it possible to include eggs in MRE's.
